The solar power plant on the roof of this school is owned and maintained by the local non-profit association "Ökogemeinde Binningen". The first part was installed in 1992 and produces aboud 5,000 kWh/year. The solar panels on the roof of the gym were installed in 1995. They produce additional 12,000 to 15,000 kWh/year. A display near the entrance of the gym shows the current activity.
The installation was supported by many students of this school who prepared elements for the facility in their manual training classes. The electricity is bought by the local energy supplier EBM.
