The ferry terminal is used by ferries that cross the River Mersey between Liverpool and The Wirral. The building underwent a major refurbishment in 2008 as part of the celebrations of Liverpool being the European City of Culture in that year.
The Beatles Story originally opened in the nearby Albert Dock in 1990 and has exhibitions relating to the life, times, culture and music of the Beatles.
In 2008, the same year the ferry terminal was modernised, Merseytravel bought the original Beatles Story. They took the opportunity to extend the exhibitions and open a second site here at the Pierhead. It holds the Fab4D experience, a groovy trip through the music of the Beatles using 3D computer generated animation and special effects!
It is recommended that you allow at least an hour for a visit to this building. Tickets give access to both buildings and a shuttle bus between them, though the two sites are only about a 10 minutes’ walk apart. They are also valid for 48 hours.
The price of admission is
Adult: £15.95
Concession: £12
Child: £7
The sites are open every day apart from December 25th and 26th.
The times of opening are...
1st April – 31st October 9am to 7pm (last admission 5pm)
1st November – 31st March 10am to 6pm (last admission 5pm)
