The Trader's Bank (incorporated in 1885) began it's operations in Selkirk with the construction of this building in 1906-07. The most noticeable feature it the truncated corner of the building was intended to attract customers from the street.
Garson Quarries of Tyndall worked on the foundation and J. M. Beattie worked on the of construction of the building. Moody's Hardware shared the first floor with the bank. The second floor was professional offices and the third was several apartments. The Trader's Bank only lasted here for two year when the Dominion Bank moved in.
