Text of the marker:

 Confederates

Of the 501 originally buried here 238 were killed in the Battle of Wilson Creek August 10th 1861.  Most of the remaining 263 died from wounds received in battle or from sickness.  Some ere killed in the Battle of Springfield, Januaary 8th 1863.

The Confederate part of the cemetery was founded in 1871 as a separate cemetery, it became part of the Springfield National Cemetery in 1911.
