In the 13th century Herzog Ludwig I. fouded a hospital which had also a roman chapel.The city fire of 1327 destroyed the hospital and the chapel. Thus, a gothic building was constructed in the manner of a Bavarian church hall. The last architect, Gabriel Ridler, completed the church in 1392.
