The Non-Violence sculpture was created by Carl Fredrick Reuterswärd. A revolver is mounted on a concrete pedestal by the handle with the barrel pointing west. The barrel is tied into a knot. He was inspired by the murder of his friend, John Lennon, to make an artistic statement against violence. In 1988, the sculpture was presented as a gift the United Nations by the government of Luxembourg.
