Literacy Park was donated by the
Rotary Club of Newport, chartered in 1955, to celebrate its 50th anniversary, as well as the Centennial of Rotary International.
The one-acre park includes a concrete open amphitheater and a bronze sculpture of two girls sitting on a bench reading books. There is also a dedication plaque mounted on a large rock.
The sculpture is undated and unsigned. It depicts two girls sitting on a bench facing each other with an illustrated alphabet book between them. The sculpture is about four feet long and three feet high.
There is no playground or restrooms.
