This 1688 bronze work entitled Le Rhone depicts a bearded man lying on his side, holding a staff...and looking into the distance determinedly. A cherub peers at him from near his feet. Water seems to be flowing from where the figure is resting his left elbow...and of course, the title indicates that the figure represents one of France's major rivers. Other nearby pieces represent other French rivers.
The artists are Jean-Baptiste Tuby (1635-1700) & Balthasar Keller (1638-1702)
