The monument is a marble shaft with knights helmet on top. At the base of the shaft is a relief of a wreath. On the base is a shield with the inscription:

Below this is a relief of crossed cannons followed by the General's last name LYON. On the opposite side is the inscription:
Though He Died For His Country, Yet He Lives In The Hearts Of His Countymen. Though He Fell In War, In Peace He Is Not Forgotten. Cherishing His Virtues; Commending His Patriotism; We Honor His Memory.
