This trig point is located on Great Shunner fell. The Pennine Way from Hardraw to Thwaite passes the trig point. There great views in all directions.

Great Shunner Fell Trig point is no longer used for surveying purposes by Ordnance Survey. It was last maintained in 1976. The height of the flush bracket on the side of the pillar was originally 716.280 metres above sea level(Newlyn Datum). It was levelled in 1955.
