Text: “Near here, the interior defensive lines ran southwest to cross Harding Pike; the total length of these works was about 7 miles. First garrisoned by Wood’s IV Corps, it was occupied Dec. 15 by Donaldson’s Division of Quartermaster employees. Part of the breastworks can be seen on Vanderbilt Campus, 300 yards west.”

Notes: Marker is fairly easy to get to. Located at the intersection of 21st Ave and Medical Center Drive near the Vanderbilt Hospital. Most parking is by permit only, or metered. However, the East parking garage is located at the same intersection. Also, the "Roger Williams University" marker is within walking distance. If you parked somewhere for that, you may consider continuing down 21st to reach this marker.
