The monastery is a dependency of the Holy Monastery of Philotheos at Mount Athos. It has preserved a collection of religious articles and works. The most valuable of them is a part of the Holy Nail of Christ's crucifixion, originally gifted by Byzantine Emperor Nikiforos Votaneiatis (1078-1081) to Philotheos Monastery at Mt. Athos.
As part of religious celebration, every year, on the first Tuesday after Easter, the Monastery conducts a procession that starts at a village of Theologos. During the procession, they carry the Holy Nail back to the convent.
The Monastery of Archangel Michael is inhabited exclusively by nuns. They insists that the visitors dress up according to their rules - that is long trousers for men and long skirts and tops with covered shoulders for women, which are offered at the entrance.
