Levers are one of the most important simple machines. Examples of levers are all around us, including pliers, scissors, hammers, wheel barrows, and car jacks. All levers have two arms and a pivot point, or fulcrum that the arms move around.
Scientific Principle(s) being demonstrated: In this lever, the arms are two ends of a long beam with a fulcrum in between them. A lever changes a small force that moves the long arm a long distance into large force that moves the short arm a short distance.
Briefly explain if the experiment was effective for you. Could it have been better?: In this experiment, I exerted only a small force and a 2,500 pound vehicle was raised off of the ground.
When is the apparatus/experiment available to the public: This experiment is available at all times (24/7/365).
