The column was built in 1759-1764, replacing an older column, erected in 1711 after the plague outbreak in 1710. It was designed by Italian sculptor Dionys Stanetti and created by local stonemason Karl Holzknecht.
It is one of the largest trinity columns in Central Europe. At the base there are statues of saints: local church patrons St. Joseph and St Francis Xavier, mining patrons St. Barbara and St. Catherine, and the protectors from plague: St. Rochus, St. Sebastian and St. Rosalia. Between the pillars there is a statue of Virgin Mary and at the top there is placed a sculpture of Holy Trinity.
