The memorial is under some tree in this downtown park. On a metal, circular plaque it reads:

"Theodore Roosevelt
1901-1909
Born: 1858
Died: 1919

Accomplishments:

- Governor of New York
- Assistant Secretary of the Navy
- Organized first US volunteer Calvary regiment - Nicknamed the Rough Riders.
-Led the charge onto Kettle Hill and San Juan Hill in the Spanish American War.
-Settled the Alaska Panhandle border dispute with British Columbia.
-Created legislation to regulate big business, reduce monopolies and broaden control of the railroads.
-Proposed increased conservatism of natural resources by establishing national forest and wilderness areas.
-Promoted legislation for the creation of the US Department of Commerce and Labor
-Nobel Peace Price recipient for organizing a peace conference between Japan and Russia
-Established a treaty with Panama to build the Panama Canal.
-Organized the Bull Moose Party in 1912 and was wounded campaigning for president.
-Youngest president of the United States (42)
-Statesman, cowboy, solider, hunter, naturalist, explorer, sportsman."
