The Whittier Police Memorial was dedicated May 20, 2011. The memorial is dedicated to two Whittier Police Department Detectives, John Pierce and Mike Lane, who died in 1977 and 1979, respectively, as a result of injuries incurred in the line of service.

“The memorial, by California artist Alanna Roth, is titled, "The Final Salute," and features a sculpture of a police officer saluting a fallen comrade, while his hand rests on the shoulder of the fallen officer's child, who holds an American flag.”

The base of the monument has pictures of the fallen officers and describes how they were killed.

Funding for the Police Memorial was raised by the Whittier Community Foundation, a nonprofit group which raises money for projects and programs that benefit the local community.
