The sign is a bit of a mess but it is entirely self descriptive.

The Red House is quite simply a red brick pub alongside the A1198 or Ermine Street. in the Autumn the Boston Ivy or Virginia Creeper that has grown all over the pub turns into the vivid autumn-red that we see here.

The Red House indeed.

It has to be said though, that the sign shows a couple strolling across the A10 having parked on the southbound side of the road. The car looks like a 1940's or 50's model. At the beginning of the 21st century I would recommend using the car park next to the pub and NOT dicing with death.
