For his Eagle project, Mitch Floyd decided to replace the previous set of mile markers - damaged by weather and vandals. New metal signs were placed at 0.2 mile increments along the very popular 8-mile Greenbelt path, which used by walkers, runners, and bikers of all ages.

Mitch used a measuring wheel from the city public works to accurately determine the distances from the trailhead at Exchange Place over its current terminus at Netherland Inn road in the Boatyard district. The metal signs will give much longer useful life and are easy to read for people on the go...

Mitch Floyd is a member of Sequoyah Council Troop 48 chartered at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. The Eagle Court of Honor is Tuesday, November 15, 2011 (where Mitch will be recognized along with his good friend Jacob Tilley).

A visit for this waymark can be made to any of the 40 markers along the trail, not just 0.2 mile shown in the original posting. Actually, it would be a more interesting challenge to find a new marker and show it in pictures looking up and down the Greenbelt.
