Donovaly can be ranked among a mountain recreation places. It a part of the national park NAPANT close to the national park Velka Fatra in a wide valley between Banska Bystrica town and Ruzomberok town. Donovaly village is a famous centre of winter and summer sports. Donovaly´s past starts in 17ht century when a first settlement springed up. The main source of living was work in wood and later in ironworks. During the Second World War this village become a secred centre of partisans and refugees in face of german soldiers. In today´s village you can visit a beautiful Classicism church( 1825) originaly furnitured and old unique log-cabin houses with verandes.

Donovaly mužeme zaradit mezi horské rekreacní obce. Nachází se v ochranném pásmu NAPANT v blízkosti národního parku Velká Fatra, v západní casti Nízkých Tater v širokém sedle mezi Banskou Bystricí do Ružomberkem. Obec Donovaly je velice známým strediskem pro letní ci zimní dovolenou. V 17. století tu vznikali první uhlírské osady a Donovaly se stali duležitým administrativním centrem uhlírských osad. Hlavní zdroj obživy obyvatel byla práce v lesech a podeji v železárnách. Za 2. svetové války tu bylo centrum partyzánu a utecencu pred Nemci.V obci najdeme klasicistický kostel z roku 1825 s puvodním zarízením a srubové domy se zasklenými verandami.
