On the wall along the granite stairway behind Ralph J. Bunche Park, opposite the United Nations Building, is a quote from the Book of Isaiah in Old Testament. The wall was created around 1948 by the architectural firm of Andrews & Clark and inscribed in 1975. The quote fills the entire wall.
They shall beat their swords into
plowshares, and their spears into
pruning hooks: nation shall not lift
up sword against nation. Neither
shall they learn war any more.
