There are clocks on each side of the steeple. The church was originally built in 1848 as a Jesuit mission church replacing an early log chapel. The church became a parish church in 1883 and the same year the tower and steeple were added to the church. The church was further expanded in 1905. When the clocks were added was not listed in the detailed documentation of the church in its National Register nomination.
