LORDSBURG
Elevation 4,245
Lordsburg was founded in 1880 on the route of the Southern Pacific Railroad, near that used by the Butterfield Overland Mail Co.1858-1861. The town was named for Delbert Lord, an engineer with the rail road. In 1927, Charles Lindberg landed his famed Spirit of St. Louis on Lordsberg. For years, the town catered to motorist traveling the Old Spanish Trail highway and Later U.S. 80.

There are two additional Historical Markers for Lordsberg. One is at the visitor center/rest area located off the Western Exit for Lordsburg on I-10 and near mile post 28 on Highway 70 on the North side of Lordsburg.
