Le Araignée Rouge (The Red Spider), also known as The Grand Stabile Rouge, is a work of art of American sculptor Alexander Calder, located in the business district of La Defense, a suburb west of Paris.
This monumental sculpture was erected in 1976 (the year of the death of Calder) on the Place de la Defense, in front of the Place Defense building.
Measuring 15 meters high and 75 tonnes, it is made of steel and painted red.
This work by Calder echoes another, the Flamingo in Chicago, which was installed two years before the Red Spider.
