Alameda
This 18th century Spanish settlement was established on the site of an ancient Tiwa Indian Pueblo that was destroyed following the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. The pueblo was reestablished in 1702, but in 1708 the Spanish moved its Tiwa inhabitants to help resettle the pueblo of Isleta. Here the Camino Real passed by cottonwood groves from which the community derived its' name.
