Halibut Point State Park is known for the beauty of its coastal scenery. The land was once owned by the Babson Farm Granite Quarry. Just north of the visitors center is the steep cliffs of a vast quarry pool. Beyond the quarry is the Atlantic Ocean.
The visitors center is located in a renovated World War II fire-control tower. It has exhibits related to the park's natural and cultural history. The 60-foot tall structure has panoramic views that stretch north to new Hampshire and Maine. The center is also home to park's administrative headquarters.
Hiking along the sheer granite cliffs, bird watching, fishing, and exploring tidal pools are popular activities.
