Although the memorial lists that the bomber, a Halifax, with serial nr LV826 crashed and its crew got killed. This information seems to be wrong.
The names of the crew:

Sgt Alexander M Berry
are on the inscription plate.
Furthermore, following text is written

Aan de bemanning van de Handley Page Halifax
Serialnumber LV826 van 466 Squadron Royal Air Force
Die hier in de nacht van 12 op 13 mei 1944 is neergestort
waarbij alle zeven inzittenden om het leven kwamen
Zij gaven hun leven voor onze vrijheid."

The plate depicts also two australian flags as all, except Berry, were Australian.

The cross is made from gear from the crashed plane.
According to a trusthworthy source, the plane was LV919.
The plane took of from the british airfield Leconfield for a night raid on the railways of Hasselt, about 60km to the southeast.
It was shot down by Hptn Heinz Wolfgang-schnaufer from Stab 1J/NJG1, stationed in Sint-Truiden.
