PY1097 - 1964 USGS 10EAM - Montana - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark is located about a half mile south of U.S. Hwy. 287 along Mont. Hwy. 87 at the Madison River bridge. The cap is located at the north end of the west walkway of the bridge. The cap was set by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1964 and was marked 10EAM.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1987 47.6 KM (29.60 MI) SOUTH FROM CAMERON. 46.8 KM (29.10 MI) SOUTHERLY ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 287 FROM THE POST OFFICE IN CAMERON, THENCE 0.8 KM (0.50 MI) SOUTHEAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 87, IN THE NORTHEAST END OF THE SOUTHWEST WALKWAY OF A HIGHWAY BRIDGE SPANNING THE MADISON RIVER, 4.5 M (14.8 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND 0.3 M (1.0 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHWEST END OF THE WALKWAY. THE MARK IS 0.2 M ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.
