The Southington Historical Society is located in the Southington Public Library. It is open to the public the 2nd Saturday of each month between 10am and 1pm. It is an all volunteer organization. Southington Historical Society is funded by membership dues, grants, fund-raisers and donatations.
It ceased operation as a library in 1975. It is built with buff colored brick with limestone and terra cotta trim. It was built in 1902 and designed by New York City architect George Wilson Potter. There was an addition added to the library in 1930. The building is an example of Neo-Classical Revival architecture.
It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
