This is the ferry port for the City of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. It is a surprisingly small pier, however, this port is used in the main by tourist boats. The locals park their aquatic vehicles, usually dragon boats of various sizes, along the Mekong riverbank to the north of this pier.

The pier is located on the northern edge of the tourist area of Phnom Penh. From here ferries travel up and down the Mekong showing to tourists the 'real' Cambodia. There are also regular departures to the Vietnamese port of Chau Doc on the Cambo/Viet border. The port is in use well into the evening. I have seen boats dock here late at night. A decade ago there there was a great deal of local passenger river traffic as people travelled to and from their homes to the big city, but now with a rebuilt road system (at least to the provincial capitals) buses have replaced ferries as the workaday travel system.

Tickets for these journeys are sold around the town from the innumerable tourist ticketing offices. There is one small ticket office at the pier itself, in the same building as the 'Titanic Restaurant' (great name for a pier restaurant—however, not recommended. Once upon a time a good restaurant, now the prices have increased and the quality decreased. I blame tourists for this.)
