This film is based around a simple premise of a newly married couple wanting to escape living with her father. They buy a run down cottage, hoping to do the place up and live there. The father in law becomes involved and starts to interfere with the building work. In particular, he interferes with the electrical wiring, causing overheating and the house to catch fire. To complicate matters, the local fire brigade is at the Pilsbury Pageant towing the float. The husband desperately tries to extricate the fire brigade to fight the fire. The father in law learns his lesson and the house is rebuilt.
The house in question was most probably built specially for the film, particularly as it catches fire. Pilsbury, on the other hand is easily identified as Turville.
