The American flag waves high above this marker honoring our country’s Armed Forces. The seals of the Army, Marine, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Navy are etched in the stone around the words:
“This monument honors the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.”
Nearby a traveler will also find a marker telling about Father Baraga and his historic crossing of Lake Superior to help those who were ill. This rest stop is a good place to pause and remember those who have been willing to sacrifice their lives for others.
