Perea Nature Trail Survey Disk - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

The Perea Nature trailhead is about 20 miles northwest of Bernalillo along NM550. There is a brown highway sign posted at the turn off. The easy walking trail is a well maintained 1 mile long gravel path. Along the trail are great mountain views to the north (Nacimientomountains), Northwest (Jemez Mountains) and Blanco Mesa to the southwest. The survey marker is set on a white cement post just north of the trail in a plant free area. The sand around the post has blown away, leaving the disk sitting about 3-4" above the ground, like a mushroom cap. Very easy to see.
