Corps of Discovery II – Denver, CO, is located at the US Mint in Denver, Denver County, CO. The station is located on the grounds of the United States Mint, Denver, Denver County, CO. The 12-inch commemorative brass disk is mounted in a 24x24x24 granite cube that has been beveled so that the disk faces to the north at a 45-degree angle from horizontal. It is about 46 feet west of a lamp post that stands on the southwest angle of the intersection of Colfax Ave and Cherokee, about 30 feet south of the south curb of West Colfax Ave, about 30 feet northeast of the northeast corner of the Mint, and about 20 feet south of a low granite wall that supports a wrought iron fence that runs along the south side of the sidewalk on the south side of Colfax Ave and along the north edge of the Mint grounds. The handheld coordinates are N39-44.398 W104-59.517 and were taken from a point about 20 feet north of the station. The disk was dedicated on March 15, 2004, to celebrate the initial production of the “Westward Journey Nickel Series” of coins. The disk does not have any identifying stamping other than the standard design elements of the commemorative series of disks: CORPS OF DISCOVERY II – 200 YEARS TO THE FUTURE – PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP. To reach from the state capitol building in downtown Denver, go west for about 0.40 miles on West Colfax Avenue to the US Mint at 320 West Colfax Ave between Cherokee Street West and Delaware Street.
