This memorial is a brass plaque mounted on a tall stone cairn. The stone stands over five feet tall and is located in a park and memorial area in downtown New York Mills. The park is right off of main street near the City Hall.

The plaque features an engraving of a cabin, pine trees and a pioneer family.

The plaque reads:

In Respected Memory
of the Finnish pioneers who settled in this region in 1874 and later years and whose courage, perseverence and faith was instrumental in opening New York Mills and vicinity to agricultural development.

Erected by their descendants June 2, 1940.
