Considering the earliest burials, I suspect that this cemetery began as the McCAUL family burial plot in the 1850s. According to land records dated 04 November 1869, John A and Alexandrina CAMERON provided the property "for a burying ground for the burial of the dead of all Protestant Christian denominations."
Reviewing the municipal record of burials and the remnants of surviving head stones, at least 24 burials took place here. In the 1960s, the monuments were removed and the land was bulldozed in a failed attempt to prepare the land for municipal storage. Since the late 1980s, the cemetery has been maintained as recorded in the accompanying photographs. All monuments have been placed in the northwest corner of the cemetery lot.
