Seaside Heights shares it's boardwalk with Seaside Park to the south. Seaside Heights has long been a rowdy vacation destination. Many people rent homes in the area for the season or a month.
The beach has fine white sand and the water is usually fairly warm with mild to heavy wave action. Most of the action occurs between the two amusement piers at either end, but if one goes north of Casino Pier, the beach (and Boardwalk) is much quieter. South of the Funtime Pier is Seaside Park. The Boardwalk offers all kinds of rides, arcades, games of chance, shops, restaurants and bars, miniature golf, etc.

The town's website (visit link) has this to say about itself:

"COST-Seaside Heights Beaches are all public and are open throughout the season. Public Access can be found almost each block and badges can be purchased for the day. Come early to claim your spot for the day! Enjoy a book while relaxing to the fresh ocean breeze.

SURFING-The northern end of the Seaside Heights Beach provides some of the best surfing NJ has to offer. The natural sandbars create waves, which break far from the beach and maintain size and strength on their journey to shore.

SWIMMING-Seaside Heights Employs some of the top lifeguards to be found anywhere. Individual lifeguard towers are spread out the entire length. Beach goers can find surf conditions marked by flags flying. Lifeguards are on duty all hours that the beach is opened. No swimming is allowed after the lifeguards are off duty."
