The "Tonlesap Restaurant and Nightclub" is one of the classier spots in the city of Phnom Penh. The restaurant is on the Mekong River, just a little to the north of the main tourist strip. On the northern side of the restaurant building is this mural, approximately 5m x 2m in size.
The mural depicts the city of Phnom Penh, as viewed from the Mekong River, as it was in the year 1866. I do not know if this mural is based upon any real image of the time, or is merely a recreation, however, the view of the city is as it would be as if viewed from the current location of the restaurant. A prominent feature on the mural is Wat Phnom, the legendary founding point of the city. The mural is sepia in colour.
