The nearby plaque says this pilot trainer, manufactured by Noorduyn Aviation Ltd, was used from July 1939 to March 1968. It was dedicated here on 15 Sept 1996.
According to Wikipedia, Noorduyn Aircraft Ltd was acquired by the Canadian Car & Foundry(CCF) in 1946. CCF built 270 Harvard MK-4's for the RCAF. The MK II developed into the MK-4 and had improved cockpit layout, increased fuel capacity, modified landing gear with steerable tailwheel, updated radios and a 600hp R-1340-AN-1 engine.
