Cows, unlike bulls are relatively unusual subjects for inn signs. How this one gets its name is unclear, but it has been here since at least 1851.

The sign however, is interesting and may be an amateur effort. It should be no surprise if it looks familiar, Lovers of dairy produce, shoppers and anyone who sees television advertising will have seen the face of this cow. It appears to me as though it is a copy of the logo of 'Laughing Cow' cheese. An original is placed in the gallery.
