At a fork in the road there is a cannon that is mounted on a granite base that is pointed toward the center of town - good thing it doesn't function.

In Monson, at the fork in the road, is a cannon pointed toward the center of town. It is not functional, as the granite base indicates - good thing, perhaps, for the people down the street.
The cannon is relatively small. I could not find anything about the cannon. It is located by the Civil War memorial. There are marks on the cannon's side - on the face of the nub that rests on the granite block. However, they were too hard to read.
