In 2000, the Natural Bridge Appalachian Trail Club complete a trail relocation to cross the James River on a new 625 ft steel truss bridge, thus avoiding a more dangerous route on the US501 highway bridge. This location is the parking lot right off US501, which appears to be able to hold at least a dozen cars during peak season. The foot bridge is reached by going under the train bridge and back up on south side.

While taking photos, informed the very tired backpacker that he had ensured the remnants of Tropic Storm Lee last night.

Type: Trail Head
