Kay Thompson wrote and Hilary Knight illustrated a series of five children's books featuring Eloise, a six-year old girl who lives at the Plaza Hotel. And Wikipedia (

"A portrait of Eloise hung in the lobby of the Plaza until it closed for renovations in 2005. The portrait was subsequently re-hung in 2008 after three years in storage.
Thompson's goddaughter, Liza Minnelli, has been cited as a possible model for Eloise, as has the author herself.[1]
In 2003, two made-for-TV movies based on the first two books were made by Walt Disney Television, titled Eloise at the Plaza and Eloise at Christmastime, starring Sofia Vassilieva as Eloise and Julie Andrews as Nanny. In 2006, an animated television series based on the characters of the books, premiered on Starz! Kids & Family, featuring Mary Matilyn Mouser as Eloise and Lynn Redgrave as Nanny."
The hotel was built in 1907 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The architects were Henry J. Hardenbergh and Thomas Hastings. It's entrance faces the Grand Army Plaza and the Pulitzer Fountain. Central Park's entrance is steps away. Read more about the hotel at (
