This shrine is found in the city and province of Mukdahan, in north eastern Thailand. It lies on the Mekong River foreshore, immediately adjacent to the ferry office and pier. It is consists of a small, central, enclosed shrine, and a large covered area facing the river. Judging by the number of people (largely women) on a weekday, who were visiting the shrine, it clearly has a measure of importance in the city and province.
The story behind the shrine is that, two Laotian princes drowned in the Mekong River, while crossing to the city of Mukdahan. This took place at the time of the founding of the city. The two women are revered as local patron saints of the city, with particular regard to women. The shrine was built next to a sugar palm tree, which (assuming it to be the same tree), partially obscures the shrine from the main road. There is an annual festival, in May, held in the memory of these two princesses.
