The library opened on Feb. 24, 1921. The Carnegie Library had ,053 titles and seating for 20 people. It currently has a collection of over 50,000. The library was renovated in the 1960s.
Now adays the library is modernized. It has everything the main library has but at a smaller scale.
“We even have patrons who tell us ‘this will always be the Main Library,'” agrees Mary Frost, library assistant II. “They brought their kids here or came here as kids. A lot of people ask if there's still a basement, because they remember going downstairs to the Children's Department.”
