Tünnes and peel -
Two originals Cologne

Very near the Old Market is the Church of St. Martin. Directly in front of the entrance courtyard we find the bronze figures of the two most popular forms of Cologne "Tünnes and peeling." The impetus for its creation was Joseph (Jupp) Engels, Cologne and an enthusiastic architect, who was honored by his commitment to the Customs and Cologne with the Cologne Architecture Prize and left its mark throughout the city.

In Tünnes and peel are two legendary figures from the Hänneschen - Puppet theater in town. The thick bulbous nose of golden Tünnes is already quite rubbed, because a strong grip on the nose for good luck!
