The Saint Vincent's Infant Asylum was built in 1878 for the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul. The asylum was built to provide housing for young children whose parents were unable or unwilling to provide for their there. Asylum provided housing for thousands of children over the years with a population often between 4 and 5 hundred children at a time. The brick Gothic Revival style building was designed by Charles A. Gombert. The building is currently used as the La Causa Early Education & Care Center.
