Built in 1903 by architect John Werling, the Le Mars Public Library was one of many partially funded by Andrew Carnegie. It continued serving the public with reading material until 1976 when the library moved to a new location. It is now occupied by the Le Mars Art Council which offers cultural education and experiences for the community. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 (#79000922).
