Athens Avalon Greenspace Stairs - San Francisco, California - Outdoor Stairways on Waymarking.com

This beautiful stairway in the Excelsior District has been tiled on the upright side of all the risers with colorful rectangular tiles. The tile design was created by Iran Narges, in collaboration with Pamela Axelson, who led the project. Both are long-time Excelsior residents.

To the NW side of the stairway is a beautiful succulent garden. Midway up there is a landing where one can step of the stairway to enjoy the plants. near the top of the stair are nice view os downtown San Francisco and Mount Davidson.

Posted coordinates are at the bottom of the stairway on Avalon Avenue. Coordinates at the entrance to the top of the stairway are N 37° 43.516 W 122° 25.537.
