This reminds me of the work of the Group of Seven - Canadian artists. It has that simple, clean look to it but with an abstract twist.

Walter Yarwood was part of the Painters Eleven group that formed in the 1950's. These eleven abstract painters were all from Ontario, Canada. Soon after this group disbanded in 1960 Yarwood stopped painting and concentrated on sculpting. Walter Yarwood was born in Toronto in 1917 and was first a painter and then moved to sculpture. He died in Hamilton in 1996.
