This popular adventure up Oneonta Gorge is extremely unique. You can visit Oneonta Gorge any time of year, but you dare only hike up it when the water is very low, because you must actually walk up the creek, there is no trail.... the creek is the trail.
The best way to see the inside of the Oneonta Gorge is to put on sneakers and wade knee-deep up the creek from the highway bridge. This adventure is not for the faint of heart however, because the route sometimes involves clambering over a logjam or wading through a chest-deep pool.
At the end of the gorge, you are rewarded with the 100 foot Lower Oneonta Falls, which is also a waymark.
